Super Meat Boy Editor
The level editor for Super Meat Boy on PC may not be available until sometime in January, but the DevTools ARE there for you to mess around with and some people have been making some very, very incredible levels with it. However the DevTools are not the easiest thing to use, and there isn't a GUI to help you out. YouTube user GproductionsOh has gone ahead and made a nice two part video guide which I've embedded after the break. He even added some nice little animations to the instructions, it feels like an official tutorial!

Coming nine years after the release of Super Meat Boy, the upcoming Super Meat Boy Forever is among the most anticipated indie games set to arrive later this year, and aside from the challenges that the game will bring to players at its launch, it seems that even more challenges will arrive for players down the line after release through DLC and a planned level editor.
Refenes, however, did confirm that a feature for user-created levels is planned for Super Meat Boy Forever, though that feature would not be implemented in the game at launch. However, much like the Super Meat World level editor that was added to Super Meat Boy after its release, it seems that Super Meat Boy Forever will be getting a similar system down the line to allow players to craft their own ridiculously-challenging levels.
"We always wanted to release a basic level editor, but the idea started to balloon when we decided to buy servers and program a fully automated level portal (Super Meat World) to support these levels as a bonus chapter for the PC version," said Team Meat's Edmund McMillien. "We will be doing one more update to SMW next week adding a few missing features and fixing up a couple editor bugs.
The Level editor can be launched on Steam by going into tools and selecting the SMB level editor which is around the 1MB mark. Super Meat World is unlocked by completing two full chapters or collecting 20 bandages in the main game and appears to the left of Ch1 on the overworld map.
Super Meat Boy shipped with more than 300 levels in 2010. Surviving that gauntlet was intimidating enough, but at the time, Team Meat had no intention of ever developing a sequel. The solution was Super Meat World, an online portal where people could use a level editor to make their own punishing creations. The game would even package together new chapters of levels, based on the stages highly rated by the community.
[Editor's Note: A number of readers have pushed back on Refenes' characterization of what happened with the level editor's security, arguing Team Meat were more than adequately informed about what was going on, but chose to ignore it.]
"It was a labor of Love/Hate but something we did because we knew the fans wanted it and were already creating so many awesome levels using our devmode. So think of this as a thank you to all the awesome fans who sent us cool shit, nice emails and created amazing levels with devmode, if you bitched us out because the free level editor was delayed, you should probably not update your game and burn in hell."
Our meaty hero will leap from walls, over seas of buzz saws, through crumbling caves and pools of old needles. Sacrificing his own well being to save his damsel in distress. Super Meat Boy brings the old school difficulty of classic NES titles like Mega Man 2, Ghost and Goblins and Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Japanese one) and stream lines them down to the essential no BS straight forward twitch reflex platforming.
Giving a bit of interest to custom levels and chapters, most of them really need to be played! Feel free to share your times on some levels with others and also levels you made yourself with the editor!
There are 2 unused characters in the game's files, Burnt Boy and Dumb Meat Boy. They are both missing a .props file and a character ID. Dumb Meat Boy's animation file is unfinished so the game will crash if you try to load him in the game. Burnt Boy can be loaded into the game. He leaves a trail of fire behind that disappears like meat effect you see when you run.
There are some debug tools left in the game, including an unfinished, buggy version of the level editor. Add -devmode to the game's command line parameters. Press F1 to enter the editor, and press it again to exit the editor. F3, F4 etc. open some other editors.
Note that Dr. Fetus is selectable in this mode, which is normally impossible. Pressing the Special button makes him shoot rockets. Also note that Alien Hominid, and Tim are here which normally can't be selected in the editor without this command.
The platform game developed by Team Meat brings to life the story of Meat Boy, a small person who will brave the different trap set by the evil Dr. Fetus to save the sweet Bandage Girl. Browse through over 300 levels with a multitude of different characters. Not enough levels? Meat Team has established a level editor where you can create and share your masterpiece. Super Meat Boy, acclaimed throughout the world, will delight the beginner and the advanced gamers thanks to many difficulty modes available.
Tommy: It's hard to talk about any kind of conclusion... we aren't done with it yet! We have the editor, portal, and Mac version to finish. It's hard because it already feels like we are finished, like we ran the race. But then someone asks, "Hey, do you wanna do a whole other race?" and we're like, "Yeah, sure, that sounds like it could be fun."Edmund: Then you get there and you realize it's the same race, there's no prize at the end, and at this point you've lost control of your bowels.
The game sees players taking on the role of a small animated cube of meat named Meat Boy who must save his girlfriend, Bandage Girl, from the evil Dr. Fetus. Players must use sharp reflexes to guide Meat Boy to the end of each level, using his wall clinging ability, while avoiding buzzsaws, salt, and other various death bringing obstacles. The game will contain about 350 levels, which are split across various chapters. Levels in each chapter can be played in any order, but a certain number of levels need to be completed to access the boss stage. Completing a level within a certain time will earn an 'A+' grade which unlocks a harder alternate level. In addition to these, there are hidden warp zones featuring retro styled bonus levels with three life limits. Clearing certain warp zones or collecting hidden bandages unlocks guest characters from indie games. There is also a replay function, showcasing failed attempts simultaneously. The XBLA version features an unlockable mode called "Teh Internets" which will be freely updated with new levels. A full level editor was planned, but due to new regulations concerning user made content on consoles, only the PC and Mac versions of the game will have this feature, which will be released some time after the PC version ships.
I just made an editor for it you can only mod the first area for now i will add the others as soon as i can ive added the second but still tweaking something so you will have to wait til later for that
While the safest way to adjust the graphics settings is through the in game Settings menu, another way to adjust these settings is by editing the settings.config file with a text editor. The file, settings.config, exists in the Save directory directory Documents\My Games\Super Meat Boy Forever\Save\. If you are editing the file directly changes will not take affect until the next time you run the game.
A frequent response each time a new level loads is probably going to be, "How in the world do they expect me to do that?" At first contact, most stages of Super Meat Boy tend to resemble a haphazard fever dream of buzzsaws and other dangers. But sit a moment and observe your surroundings and one of Super Meat Boy's best features will start to shine; there is always a method to the madness, and once you figure out how to approach a particular stage running through it is usually very fun. Level design isn't just clever; it's downright Machiavellian. Dance, meaty puppet, dance!
Super Meat Boy is waaaaaay better than the original flash game. Dismissing SMB because you didn't like the flash Meat Boy is like refusing to get a huge chocolate cookie from a cookie jar, because the last cookie you got was not chocolate-y enough and kinda tasted like meat. Actually scratch that, I'm terrible with analogies. Super Meat Boy is awesome, and it's more than worth the $15.
This game isn't coming out for wii for a while. There's only one programmer, and he has to finish fixing the bugs for the Windows release, create the level editor + level hub, and port the windows version to Mac before he can start on the Wii version. And since the game ended up being too big for WiiWare, they have to figure out how they're even going to do the wii version at all.
Find a file named "buttonmap.cfg" (if you installed this from Steam it should be in the '(STEAM_DIR)\steamapps\common\super meat boy' direcrory) and edit it with a Text Editor. Be sure to use lowercase letters for re-mapped keys, for example:
